Rev Fr Jesse Amedzi, the Proprietor of the School, having worked in many schools inBritain and after visiting Stonyhurst College, a Jesuit special institution in Lancashire, UK, and having been so well impressed about how wonderfully children could perform, and for that matter the amazing quality of products turned out from that institution, heconceived the dream of establishing a replica of Stonyhurst in Ghana, precisely, in Ho.

As if by providence, Kent and Christy Hart, our God-given tireless benevolentbenefactors, who are staunch Catholics, were having a dream of establishing a schoolfor the poor and deprived children who would be given the untarnished Catholiceducation, based on high Catholic moral standards, producing the best type ofeducated children that Ghana and the world as a whole would have one day as futureleaders. The pursuance of this dream resulted in the birth of Holy Spirit CatholicPreparatory School (HOSCAPS).

HOSCAPS, located near the SSNIT Flats and adjacent to Miracle Life Clinic and StProsper‘s College at Ho, is a Catholic private Basic School. lt was opened onSeptember 20, 2004 with four classes, namely Primary Classes 5 and 6 and JuniorHigh Forms 1 and 2 with a total of twenty-one (21) students. Rev SrMargaretAkordorof OLA Senior High School, Ho was appointed the Acting Head of the School onOctober 18, 2004. Then on January 11, 2005 Mr A P Y Agbodza was appointed thesubstantive Headmaster and with effect from the 2005/2006 academic year theclasses were extended from Nursery to Form 3, making it a full Basic School.

The School within five years in 2009 grew in student population to about 600. However,in order to effect a salient and more productive re-organization of the School, wherebythe number of students in the classes would be handy for effective management, thestudent population was scaled down to about 300, whereby no class enrolmentwouldexceed 36.

The first batch of products was registered for the Basic Education CertificateExamination (BECE) in 2006, and from that year up to date, the School has alwaysregistered 100% passes at the BECE. Frantic efforts are still on-going to further movethe School towards its ultimate target of attaining/achieving the state of total excellence.
